Massachusetts voters oppose ballot measure to repeal cannabis sales, 71–24, new poll finds
MASSACHUSETTS • Marijuana Moment • Sep 25
A University of New Hampshire poll of 564 likely Massachusetts voters, taken September 17–21, found 71 percent oppose and 24 percent support the November ballot initiative that would repeal the laws allowing regulated commercial sales of adult-use cannabis and home cultivation, while keeping legal possession and the medical program (margin of error ±4.1 points). The measure drew the lowest support of any initiative in the poll, and 46 percent of voters said they understand it “very well.”
Why it matters: The vote on November 3 decides whether Massachusetts’ roughly $1.5 billion regulated adult-use retail channel keeps operating — retailers and distributors with Massachusetts exposure should watch this result, since a repeal would close licensed store sales statewide.

Last day to enter Canadian alcohol: import exclusion takes effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday
FEDERAL • Shanken News Daily • Sep 9
The presidential order excluding most Canadian packaged wine, spirits and beer from U.S. importation takes effect at 12:01 a.m. ET on Tuesday, September 29. Under the proclamation, covered product imported before the deadline but not yet entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, remains subject to the existing 50 percent duty rather than the exclusion — making today the final day to enter in-transit or warehoused Canadian SKUs.

Pennsylvania House speaker says cannabis legalization is possible next year, contingent on November elections
PENNSYLVANIA • Marijuana Moment • Sep 25
House Speaker Joanna McClinton (D) said Friday that Pennsylvania could legalize adult-use cannabis next year if Democrats flip three state Senate seats in November, and House Appropriations Chair Jordan Harris (D) said tax revenue “is going to drive us to actually legalizing adult use very soon.” The House has passed legalization before, but bills have stalled in the Republican-controlled Senate, where a pending bipartisan measure (SB 120, from Sens. Sharif Street (D) and Dan Laughlin (R)) would legalize possession for adults 21 and over with an 8 percent excise tax.
Colorado firm recalls 49 vape products over methylene chloride as expanded solvent testing arrives
COLORADO • MJBizDaily • Sep 25
StayCon issued a voluntary recall of 49 vaporizer products after a state-licensed lab detected methylene chloride traced to a flavoring compound; some affected units had been on shelves for more than 18 months, and the Marijuana Enforcement Division said an investigation is ongoing. Colorado’s expanded testing rules, covering methylene chloride and roughly 30 other solvents, are expected to take effect at the end of this month.
Why it matters: Colorado retailers should pull and quarantine recalled units now, and suppliers shipping into the state should budget for the broader solvent panel in testing costs and turnaround times starting this week.
Michigan Treasury posts Q4 wholesale marijuana tax price guidance, effective October 1
MICHIGAN • Michigan Dept. of Treasury • effective Oct 1
Michigan’s Treasury released the average wholesale prices that anchor the state’s wholesale marijuana tax for October 1 through December 31: flower at $630.81 per pound, concentrate at $2,019.20 per pound, vape cartridges at $2,300.55 per pound and infused liquids at $0.40 per fluid ounce, among 12 product categories. Wholesale entities must use these values when calculating tax on sales to retailers.
Why it matters: Distributors and retailers pricing Q4 orders in Michigan — including infused-beverage SKUs taxed on the per-fluid-ounce value — should rebase landed-cost and margin models on the new figures before October 1.
